There is a pub, post office and grocers within 50 yards, and several cafes, restaurants and galleries in the village, plus an 18 hole golf course perched on top of the cliff. This stylish Georgian home is tucked into a cobbled alleyway next to the sea and has been carefully renovated to retain original features including stripped floors. The window seat in the sitting room has stunning sea views, as do two of the bedrooms. This dramatic stretch of the `dinosaur coast', which is criss-crossed by nature trails on the cliff paths of the Cleveland Way, attracts surfers and fishing enthusiasts. The romantic castle ruins in nearby Mulgrave woods can be reached along secluded footpaths. A leisurely 3 mile stroll along the beach leads to the ancient sea port of Whitby, famed for its connections with the explorer Captain James Cook and steeped in history. Whitby's maze of narrow streets are packed with antique shops, tea rooms and sea food restaurants.
